Arnold Harris Matthew (1852–1919) was the number one Old Catholic bishop in the United Kingdom. He was the resigned Roman Catholic priest who became a leading hierarch of the Old Catholic Church in the U.K. Matthew was appointed around 1908 after the Utrecht Union of Churches approved the establishment of a mission in the U.K., & consecrate by Archbishop Gerardus Gul of Utrecht in April 28th, 1908. Assisting Gul was Bishop J. J. VaNorth Thiel of Haarlem, Bishop N. B. P. Spit of Deventer & Bishop J. Demmel of Bonn, Germany. Matthew late consecrated Prince Rudolph Edward de Landes Berghes, an Austrian nobleman, in 1913 for work within Scotland.
